Fans of the board game Monopoly will probably get rather excited at the prospect of playing this famous property developing classic for cold, hard cash, but whoa there Nelly! This particular online attraction is a Monopoly themed version of a 5 reel multi-line slot machine.so there'll be no building hotels on Mayfair or remortgaging the Old Kent Road here!
OK so it's more classic reel-spinning action rather than dice-rolling, real-estate shenanigans, but this doesn't mean trying your luck with this game won't make for a fun way to make some gains.
The core game allows you to bet 1 to 5 coins on up to 9 alternative paylines per spin, giving you the choice of wagering anywhere between 1 and 45 credits each time. Buttons at the bottom of the on-screen console make it simple to wager 1 to 5 on each line, but you can further tailor your choice by clicking the bet buttons on the left of the reels to change the specific number of coins you want staked on that line. The 'play' button automatically updates so you know what you'll be betting when you're ready to spin the reels.
The top-hated, extravagantly moustached Monopoly mascot plays as a 'wild' symbol you can substitute for all other symbols except the two Bonus ones (of which more shortly), which is a handy way of increasing the opportunities of making a winning payline. Another familiar feature of multi-line slots is the 'scatter' symbol and this appears as the Community Chest Instant Bonus symbol here - this can appear in any position to count, and three on the reels bags you your bet times a multiplier revealed when you click one of the animating Bonus symbols.
A far more advanced and fun bonus is the Pass Go Bonus that triggers if three Bonus Dice symbols settle on a payline you've bet on. This transfers you to the Monopoly Bonus Board, where you have a set number of dice rolls to collect bonus points. This is where this game becomes far more Monopoly-like in its play - each dice roll advances a user-selected player piece (based on the traditional Monopoly set e.g. boot, car, iron, dog etc.) around a version of the classic board, and wherever you land adds a set of prescribed points to your bonus round score. Even landing in Jail isn't all bad, giving you three rolls to hit a double that can increase the bonus score by five, three or two times! The Pass Go Bonus round ends once a player's used all their dice rolls, after which their final bonus payout is calculated by multiplying their points scored by the last bet they made. This may all sound rather complex, but playing the Pass Go Bonus if it happens during a session is far easier than describing it.
So should you take a 'Chance' on playing Monopoly? We say; definitely give it a 'Go'! Monopoly is a very nicely presented Slot from the consistently excellent WagerWorks software stable, and offers decent potential rewards for reasonably frugal stakes. The Pass Go bonus is the icing on the cake, adding a very nice twist to the traditional online 5-reel gameplay, and gives Monopoly players a novel hidden round to boost their winnings whenever it pops up. |
